Hot Water When You Turn on the Tap

If your shower or other outlet is a long way from your hot water system, you probably have to run the tap for a long time before hot water starts to flow. This can waste litres of water every day - something we can't afford during Australia's current water crisis.

However, a simple device solves the problem. The Chilli Pepper (always hot!) uses a tiny pump to recycle water in the pipes back to the hot water system. Only when water coming down the line is a pre-determined temperature (usually about 60degC) does the tap open and hot water start to flow.

Chilli Peppers can be retro-fitted to existing plumbing and are estimated to cost around $2 a year to operate.
